Merry Christmas

I know it's late for Christmas wishes but I was so busy I didn't go online at all on Christmas Day. The kids are off from school until January 2nd. The boys went to the dentist yesterday for cleanings, no cavities for either. Michael was home too so Elizabeth satyed home with him. She didn't even cry when I left and said goodbye to me so that's good. Just hanging around today and then tomorrow we head over to Betty's house.

Holy cow I'm a winner again

I am a member of Walt's basement online. It's a group of people who trade and collect Disney pins. Everyone is so nice. Well they have contests and pin swaps. For December I won this for guessing different ways to say Merry Christmas in different languages.

And this I got for my Secret Santa pin pal. They even sent things for the kids. So nice and thoughtful.

It wasn't supposed to start until 12 noon but it's 10:00 it's coming down. The kids are excited. I kind of like snow for Christmas but that's it. See ya tomorrow.

We went to Jones Tree Farm in Shelton yesterday with mom and my brother's family. We go every year there since Christopher was born then slowly another baby was added now we are up to six. Here's a picture of my little ones. Although Christopher really didn't want to be included in this one, he's getting too big for family photos already.

Can Nicholas eat eggs

Nicholas has been allergic to eggs since he was 1 year old. He broke into hives and was wheezing, brought into the ER at the hopsital and has been allergy testing since. He just turned 6 in July. Every year we go to the allgerist for a skin test, every year he has had a reaction to eggs not this year though and he even had bloodwork to confirm it. I am so excited I started to tear up. This has been hard for him especially when he goes to a birthday party and he can't have a cookie, or a piece of cake or even a brownie. He can have certain cookies but my son has never had a brownie and it makes me so excited to know that he might be able to and when we definately find out I am making brownies for him. We go on Nov 8th at 8:15 am so he'll have to be late for school which I am sure he won't mind. I just can't believe it after 5 years. I am so excited for him.

My big girl

My baby girl is slowly turning into a big girl. Yes you have guessed it. She went peep on the potty yesterday for the first time. And today when we got home she went peep again. She is going to be two next month on the 22nd. That's a lot earlier than the boys, they were over three when I started to try. Oh well. I guess no more diapers is a good thing.

M-I-C see you real soon, K-E-Y because we're coming in 2009

Ok. My head is officially spinning. DH has finally started talking about going to Disney in Nov/Dec 2009 today. I have been thinking and talking about this trip to myself since our last trip. Now we are undecided on where to stay. The campground, POR or All Star Movies. See the problem is that my mom will be joining us and we are a family of 5. So we need two rooms which is no big deal but DH is thinking about paying for my mom I think that's why he wants numbers. Well it's hard to throw numbers out to him when disney.com won't let me put in our dates because it's so far away. Oh well, I think it's going to be All Star Movies though.

The count down begins.

Is it fall yet?

Ok, I think it was officially fall in September but I am coming home this morning from the grocery store and I notice some leaves are starting to change (I wish I had my camara with me) but today is supposed to be in the 80's. This is just like last year. I was not wearing a coat (not even a sweat jacket) in December right before Christmas. I wonder if this is what is going to be like this year. Not that I mind that it's warm out but I would like it a little cooler. I am a 60's kind of girl. Oh well talk to you soon.

I have been slipped a Mickey

Yes that's right. I have been slipped a Mickey. I belong to this site, Walt's Basement. It is a board for people who collect Disney pins. Well I won a contest so I got my first one, then today I got a pin from one of the girls. It is Pin 13373: Disneyland - 47 Years (Mickey). That was so nice of her, her name is Sarah. They are all very nice. If you go on pinpics.com that's the pin number, you can look it up. It is really nice. Well gotta go and get dinner ready and the homework done.

First day of school

Well the kids started school on Tuesday, August 28th. Here is their picture at the bus stop. Nicholas is in first grade and he has Mrs. Zuraw and Christopher is in third grade and he has Mr. Budris. My are so grown up. I remember the day I delivered them. It's just me and Elizabeth at home all day now. As soon as she turns 2 we will be going to the Plumb Memorial Library for story time. Then I will start taking her to the park in the morning a couple of days, maybe two days.

Our Lake George vacation

Boy did we have fun too.

First here is my Irish Hiking Scarf that I knitted going to Lake George and coming home in the car. I finished one ball. I like how it is coming out. I was a little nervous about the cable because I had never done one before but it's pretty east once you get the hang of it.

Here is Elizabeth as a "pirate" for the treasure hunt that our hotel did. The boys wanted to ride in a canoe so they did not do the treasure hunt.

Sorry this is sideways but here are all the kids ready for the Painted Pony Rodeo. We all love going to this.

Here are Nicholas and Christopher waiting for the rodeo to start.

My first Irish Hiking Scarf KAL

Hello it's me. I decided to join another KAL. It's the Irish Hikinh Scarf Knit-A-Long. I ordered my yarn at least a week ago and today when me and the kids came home there was a brown box sitting on my front porch and yup it's my yarn for the scarves. I am doing two scarves, one for Christopher's teacher in Wool of the Andes in Mist and one for Nicholas' teacher in Wool of the Andes in Snickerdoodle both I bought from Knit Picks. I plan on casting on later today or tonight so I will post a picture hopefully by the end of the week. We are leaving for Lake George on Saturday so I have some knitting for at night or in the car. I am also working on a chemo cap for my charity knitting group at church which I will probably do in thecar. I have ripped that out twice already due to dropped stiches and I am determined to get that cap done on vacation. Well until next time.

Happy Knitting.

Knitting for charity projects

Ok. I think I told you that I knit with my church on Tuesday afternoons for charity. My first project was a prayer shawl, boy did that take a long time. Sorry the picture is sideways.

My second project was a chemo cap, a basic hat pattern. I think they both turned out nice.

Ratatouille

We went to see Rataouille today (me, Christopher, Nicholas and my mom). It was really cute. It's about a rat (Remy) who wants to be a chef and teams up with Alfredo Linguini in a restuarant in Paris. The boys liked it too. Nicholas was a little bit scared of the food critic he was kind of scary but Disney always has to have a bad guy and he was it. Anyway Elizabeth is crying, talk to you soon.

Ratatouille opens today

First I have to tell you that I won this pin. I joined this website "Walt's Basement". Mostly it's for pin traders but the people are so nice. Anyway they were having a contest to pick the date when they were going to reach 100 members and my mom's birthday was coming up so that's the date I picked and I won. I was so excited. This is the pin I got.

Second Ratatouille opens today. Yeah. I am bringing the boys on Sunday. They are sleeping over my mom's house on Saturday so I will pick them up and then we can go to the movies by her house. She said she's coming to so the boys will like that. I will let you know how I liked it. Talk to you soon.

POTC 3

Ok I am a little late with my review of Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End but here it is. I loved it. There were parts that were a little long but it was good. Some scenes were kind of confusing but this new board I read explained a lot. Some of the people really explained some of the scenes that I had no idea what was going on. Again I enjoyed it, Michael on the other hand did not. He says it was boring and not really piratity (I know that's a word I made up). Oh well you can't win them all.

How do you like my new look

Well I was trying to change my blog a little. The only thing I could do (not very computer/blog savvy) was change the template which in turn changed the look I think a lot from what I had. Well anyway. I am going to see Pirates of the Caribbean on Sunday morning/afternoon with Michael. My mom's going to watch the kids for us. I am soooo excited. The previews from what I've seen are awesome. I will let you know how it was.

Pirates of the Caribbean

OK, the official countdown before the movie opens starts today. It opens May 25th at 8:00 pm. I hope I can go this weekend with Michael. Christopher has a late games this weekend so maybe one of those days we will go. I just was on the site and it looks awesome.

Gauge swatches

OMG. I am in a charity knitting group at my church and this month we are doing chemo caps. Well I started one already in Peaches n' Cream Peppercorn (I think that's the color name) and it's coming out great. I was at AC Moore's today and I found this very, very very soft yarn. It's Lion Brand Micro Spun. It's a microfiber acrylic but very very soft. The color is called leaf and it's a pretty shade of green. I love green. I found this book called Knitting for Peace written by Betty Christiansen and there is a chemo hat pattern in this book with an eyelet and it's very pretty and I was in the store saying to myself. Self that hat would like very pretty in that yarn so I bought it. This is my problem, the pattern states that I need to make a gauge swatch with circular needles but I didn't want to buy them before I knew what size I needed. I only have size 9's (dp) and 2's (dp) but I was going to get a 16 inch circular for this project but I need to make a swatch first. My question is can I make a swatch with straight needles and then adjust it to circulars? I will have to research this. I know someone from the library knitting group that can help me. I'll ask her. Talk to you soon.

My basketball player

We have a paper in the town I live in called "The Huntington Herald" which comes once a week or every other week. Anyway it came today and my husband handed it to me and this picture was in it. It's a picture of my son Christopher's basketball team which they won the tournament this year. Ain't he cute. He's in the first row on the left.

Snow

Ok. Spring is supposed to be next week and it is snowing here in Connecticut. Might I remind you that it was 65 degrees on Wednesday and no one had jackets on with short sleeves too. It is supposed to snow for awhile and they are saying 4 to 12 inches. Well shall see. My nephew Markie turned 7 yesterday. What a big boy. He has a party on Saturday. I hope the weather holds up for him. Oh well, talk to you soon Elizabeth is crying.

Yeah for me

Hello to whoever reads this. I joined Weight Watchers last Tuesday and this Tuesday was my weigh in, I lost 7.6 lbs. Yeah for me.

On another note, I joined a knitting group with my church. We of course will do charity knitting. We are starting with a prayer shawl. I started one with some yarn that was given to me at 10 years ago by a older woman that worked with me. I can't think of her name right now, it's on the tip of my tongue but anyway, it had some Mohair in it that kept getting tangled and knotted so I took all of the yarn, part of the shawl I had already knitted and yes I threw it away. I bought some lavender yarn from AC Moore and now am almost done with my first skein. The baby sweater I was supposed to knit for my friend Jessica's baby my not be. I might give it to my friend Amy's sisters baby. I will just buy Jessica a cute gift. I love shopping for baby outfits anyway.

One more thing, is it too soon to start a count down for Disney when we go in November of 2009?

Monday, March 05, 2007

Hello

Ok. I have been a little busy so I couldn't post until today. What's new? So much. I joined a dishcloth exchange and it was so much fun. I sent a Mason dixon ballband in red, black and white and some candy and in return I received a beautiful purple dishcloth with point protectors, candy, hand lotion, cotton yarn and I think that's it. I was very suprised to find so much stuff. Christopher is getting ready to make his First Communion in May. So exciting. We started classes yesterday, yes the parents have to go too. What else is new. Nicholas is doing so well at school now. Learning his letters, numbers and counting up to 100. He's even starting to reaconize his muscle words. Oh well. Nicholas wants me to go watch the Incredibles with him. Talk to you soon.

P.S. Doing some charity knitting too, which I always wanted to do, starting with prayer shawl with my church.

January KAL - Snowflake

Hello all. Here is the first KAL from my Yahoo monthly dishcloth knit-along group of the year. It's a snowflake. This is probably the only one I figured out within the first two days. All of the other ones had me stumped.

I am also taking a knitting class at Janet Kemp's in Stratford. It's a nine week class. I am making a afghan. A honeycomb afghan to be exact. I will post pictures when it is completely done. It's coming along nicely though. Only one class so far. I am her only student. It's nice getting all of the attention of the instructor. All well off to get the baby ready for bed and me an hour of knitting my afghan. I have homework to do for thursday night.

Happy Belated New Year

Happy Belated 2007. Where did that year go? Well I got a pocket calendar that you can write down all your projects that you plan to do month by month and when they have to be "casted off". I got the calendar as a free little gift from the magazine Simply Knitting, it's a New Britian based magazine and I love it. The first project for the new year is a baby sweater for my friend Jessica who is due in April. She found out she's having a boy so I picked out this pattern picture here and the yarn I am using is Fantasy Naturale. I can't remember the color name but it has blues, browns and cream in it. I think it's going to knit up nice. I also got yarn to make Elizabeth one too, in purples and greens. Now I just have to find buttons. I don't think I am going to put buttons on the hat though.

Today is also 18 years that me and my husband Michael have been dating. He's a wonderful husband and friend and also he's a great father.
